John is our operations manager and head of commercial sales. John reinvented his career after leaving Reynolds Metals 12 years ago. At Reynolds he held positions in primarily the information technology fields for 22 years. After Reynolds, he traveled extensively to Europe and South America for a manufacturing software company. John was looking for a small business and decided SolarFilm was a local service company the right size with plenty of future and a great reputation in a “green” industry. John likes to fish, golf, hunt, and is not sure about the order. He has been able to render significant energy savings to large buildings in the Richmond area with the protection afforded.
Harriett is our CEO. She is originally from South Carolina and has lived in Richmond for 37 years. Harriet left a very successful career in banking to raise her daughter Kate. She was the Senior VP of Operations for Investors Savings Bank for 15 years and later joined St Bridget’s School as financial secretary. She has been with SolarFilm since she and John purchased the company 11 years ago. Harriett likes to travel, paint, cook, and cruise on the boat (not fish).
A Richmond native and long-time city resident, Kate grew up in the Far West End of Richmond, graduated with a B.A. in Fashion Merchandising from Virginia Commonwealth University, and settled in Downtown Richmond. Working with primarily our residential customers, Kate’s warm demeanor and honest approach will make anyone feel comfortable welcoming her into their home for a consultation. She currently lives in the Museum District with her husband and two dogs, and enjoys reading, traveling, cooking, and volunteering in the community.
Nick is from Richmond and is our newest employee with 1 ½ years of service. His eye for detail and customer service makes him a great SolarFilm employee. Nick has caught on quickly and can perform just about any installation. He is currently attending John Tyler CC in the evenings working on his associate degree. Nick likes sports as well and plays on a weekend football team – he is quick. Nick also likes to play competitive poker and is well versed with professional football, Hockey, and basketball teams.
Edward “Ward” Bailey
Ward is our big reach, high wire guy. He spent many years rock climbing in Boone, N.C. and is clearly comfortable with ladder work. A graduate of VCU with a degree in English, Ward has been with SolarFilm for 4 years during and after school curriculum. Originally from Danville, he likes motorcycles, NASCAR, hiking, literature, and any well-made machinery. He roots for the Duke basketball teams. He continues to look for the ultimate bar-b-que.
Trey is our resident sports buff. He plays anything but concentrates on football, soccer, and co-ed dodge ball. Trey has been with SolarFilm for 5 years and is quite talented with all aspects of window film installation. Trey attended Ferrum College and can tell you about any college sport you want to know about. Easy going and focused, Trey is a great asset to the operational team. He is originally from Richmond. His sports discipline (well- known Hermitage HS tight end) has him sticking with the most difficult jobs and “getting it done”.
Sue lives in Merry Point, Va. off the Chesapeake Bay. Semi- retired now, Sue owned a couple of art galleries in Northern Virginia. Originally from South Africa, Sue and her husband Doc came to the Northern Neck 10 years ago to live and have never looked back. She has a special eye for interior design and artwork. When she is not at the gym, Sue volunteers at the Art League and works very hard for the Northern Neck playhouse – she makes her own line of jewelry too! We are so glad to have a knowledgeable resident available to provide consultation and estimates to our great customers in the Northern Neck. It’s not an English accent, it’s South African.
